I’m so proud of one of my dear and longest-known friends on island, Shar! And I’m so glad she has rejoined us at Still & Moving, now to teach aerial classes. She and I began teaching Nia at about the same time, about 2003-4 and worked our way through Black Belt training over the years. Whew!

Shar has since been performing, getting trained and teaching aerial with Samadhi for more than 7 years. She also took teacher trainings at Still & Moving Center: her Aerial Yoga training from Leva Aerial Yoga and Aerial Dance teacher training from NECCA (New England Center for the Circus Arts). Sharlene received her RYT-200 yoga training through Yoga Alliance, and she is also a certified aqua instructor.

Shar is irrepressible and unstoppable. When Shar was a little girl, her grandmother told her she danced “like a stick”, took her out of hula class and bought her a horse instead. I’m guessing the horse was a better teacher than the hula instructor. Shar grew up to become a beautiful, skilled dancer – both on the floor and in the air! And she’s never lost her childlike playfulness that always adds a spark of fun to every class she teaches.

A friend to all, Shar has something good to say to everyone. She believes that the array of mind-body movement formats that she practices bring balance, joy and creativity to her life – not to mention channeling her endless energy!

Look for Shar on our aerial class schedule this month!
