This event will gently guide participants to explore intuitive dance movement through physical contact with one another. This is a free flow dance form in which the point of contact with the other dancer/s provides the starting point for a movement exploration. Practice can include rolling, being upside down, following a physical point of contact and supporting and giving weight to a partner.

We spend 45 minutes in dancing free flow before we start with the Contact Improvisational instructions and jam. Contact Improvisation is profound yet lighthearted, sometimes acrobatic yet safe, simple yet bold, sincere yet playful. Contact Improv will add newness, inspiration and a somewhat meditative, loving state to your dancing self. Contact Improv is an evolving system of movement initiated in 1972 by American choreographers Steve Paxton and Nancy Stark Smith. The improvised dance form is based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their motion-gravity, momentum, inertia.
