Sparked! A Hui Hou to Vivian with Vivian Best and Nathalie Champion
September 14, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Vivian shares:
“Sparked!” was an impulse buy one night while I was reading through posts on Facebook. I ordered it through the Kickstarter page and was delighted to receive the game just at the end of 2016. This year, I’ve hosted a game night, approximately every other week and it has been such a joy to connect with other women in my life through this game. It creates a platform for connection that is sorely needed in an age where social media seems to prevent us from being present, in the same room for one another. It’s been an opportunity to engage with other mothers as women, over discussions that get beyond the mundane playground conversations. The game fosters meaningful connection, and allows women to hold space for each other – through laughter, tears, and awkwardness. The game reminds women of who they are, that they are important and have important knowledge to share with each other, and helps to give them space to process things that are important in their lives and to connect with what brings them joy. I think we all need to be refreshed to bring energy to those in our lives that we care about, and to bring our voices to what truly matters. We create connections and resource bridges every time we play.
Nathalie Champion
Nathalie was born and raised on the east coast by her Haitian immigrant parents, who first sparked a love of dance and community within her. Their parties with the other Caribbean ex-pats living in New Jersey were legendary for the music and laughter experienced by all.
After graduating high school, Nathalie then chose to move to the Great North, where she studied business, dance, philosophy, and psychology, and graduated with a BA from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. After enduring 5 Alaskan winters, she headed southward to Santa Fe, NM, where for 12 years she ran a major art gallery and participated in many forms of dance, including modern with Julie Brett Adams, and tribal bellydance with Myra Krien, owner of Pomegranate Studios.
Then, Nathalie and her amazing husband set their sights across the ocean and moved their feathered and furry family closer to her family, who live both on Maui and Oahu. Here, Nathalie has enjoyed helping others navigate the tricky world of residential real estate, and has been participating in ecstatic dance classes and retreats for 4 years, as well as playing the community building game Sparked every chance she gets!
