“Fun”damentals of Vinyasa Yoga: Alignment in Postures, Breath and Movement Synchronicity, Balance/Stillness of the Body, Awareness and Intention of Asana

Vinyasa fundamentals will create space for students to ask questions and apply specific exercises to practice in some of the most important postures and movements we make durning a vinyasa class ie; Chatturanga, Warrior 1/2, Up/downward dog, and arm/hand balances and the connection with each step of the body & breathe, hand and arm/leg placement, and stillness and strengthening within each pose or movement. All of these simple activities will require a tremendous amount of attention and will be a great way for the students to apply the information immediately within a class setting.

Synergy/Acro Yoga 5 – 7 pm: Magic Island if weather permits. Bring large beach towels or mats if the wish is to not sit on the grass or sand. Synergy is a healing art that incorporates Thai massage, flying and partner stretching. It inspires trust, playfulness and communication. The practice of Synergy merges two or more energies, combining them into something greater than the individual . It is an art that evokes compassion and the support on the community. Does not require anyone to bring a partner.

Joseph AbriaAbria Joseph  has been practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area for 14 years where he began his practice at 17 years old as the captain of the football team in high school. His passion for yoga and eastern philosophy ignited his travels where he studied in Thailand in 2001, and attended a 700hr vinyasa yoga certification encompassing Asana, vipasana, teaching methodology, postural alignment clinics and the study of the 8 limbs of yoga. His passion in yoga has allowed him to travel abroad with the endless ability to connect with other yogis from all over the world and is an annual dedicated practice for him to travel and teach internationally.

He currently teaches full time in Marin County and surrounding Bay Area studios with the emphasis on what he says, “Yoga is important to keep and continue a consistent practice, to remember what is most important in your life, and to keep your vision clear as to what is most important to you, your health.” Another arena Abria is volunteering in is the Prison yoga Project, here Abria teaches inmates within the San Quinten State Prison system. Creating space for prisoners to detach from prison life, so that they can realize what infinite wisdom resides within them and relieve the stresses of prison. www.pranaforceyoga.com
