How would it feel to easily get down and up from the floor again like a kid?  Nia 5 Stages is a physical practice based on five stages of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. Consciously moving through these stages as an adult re-integrates the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements in such a way that after just five minutes of practice, participants notice improvements in power, range of motion, and ease in areas of their bodies other forms of exercise do not affect. This process of realignment allows the body to do what it is designed to do: explore its potential, self-heal and grow. The focus of this workshop will be Mobility and Stability.

Vicky DeMercer:  Who knew I was a dancer? I didn’t think I was. After seeing a Nia class at a friend’s house, I decided to give it a try. What I found in my first Nia class is that I could move. For the first time I allowed myself to follow my body’s way. It was wondrous, and the possibilities of my capabilities seemed limitless. Now, nearly five years later, I have my Nia White Belt (2009) & have been trained in the Nia 5 Stages (2011). I continue to feel the same as I did in my first Nia class! I’ve found a movement form that I do in my body for my body. It helps me to know the greater part of the physical, emotional & spiritual me. Through Nia, I really am dancing through life; even more importantly, everyday, I am stepping into my greatness.
