Moving Forward with Nia – Lani Kwon plus Nia Faculty

Prepare yourself to move forward in life, feeling better in every way! Moving to GREAT music, Nia provides just plain fun and delight, and a workout completely adapted to your individual body’s needs. Nia simultaneously strengthens and loosens the body, increasing stamina while nurturing healthy joints.
Nia combines the Joy of Movement with elements from the dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts, such as Feldenkrais and yoga. Nia goes by the motto: “Through movement we find health.” What kind of movement brings us health? Moving in ways that FEEL GOOD! You are never asked to move in a way that causes risk or pain. Instead, Nia’s scientifically designedsystem moves in the body’s way, YOUR body’s way.
In this class, you develop body-awareness through simple, easy-to-follow choreography. Moving to the music with Joy helps you “unstick” old habits; moving mindfully helps you drop in and find the “ahhh” of fluidic, grounded, joint-healthy movement. As Debbie Rosas, co-founder of Nia writes, “Movement is medicine.”
